Например, в залах суда Нового Орлеана длительность тюремного срока сокращается примерно на 15%; при этом эффект примерно вдвое выше, если судья и подсудимый принадлежат к одной расе. А если за день до или в день после дня рождения? Никаких шансов, никакого эффекта. И что еще более показательно, но не удивительно, ни один судья не упомянул в своем судебном решении такого понятия, как день рождения.
